IKEA Aims To Test Ecommerce In Belgium

IKEA store interior as the brand tests an ecommerce first model

Even IKEA has been watching the rise of ecommerce. Soon they will be testing a new experience for customers in Belgium and other smaller countries where the majority of product shopping and selection happens online and the physical space is mainly used for pickups.

This is a bigger shift than it sounds for a retailer whose whole model has been built around walking you through a maze of showrooms before you ever reach the thing you actually came to buy. The move is a smart one for the brand, and the results will be worth watching for anyone interested in the future of retail and consumer experiences.
