Oculus Rift Offers VR Replays of NBA Games

Oculus Rift virtual reality replay of an NBA game

Miss the big game? Want to see it live but can't make it? Oculus Rift is offering the next best thing, a chance to watch the NBA Finals on replay, aided by VR so you can feel like you were there.

The idea paints an interesting vision for the future of sports. Broadcasters have spent decades trying to get us closer to the action with more cameras and better angles. This is a different promise entirely. Would people potentially watch sports on time delay in VR if they could feel like they were physically ON the field with the players?

If the answer is yes, then the thing that makes a game worth watching stops being whether it is happening right now and starts being where you get to stand while you watch it. There are all kinds of interesting possibilities here.
