The “Brain Gain” Of Rural America: Why People Are Leaving Cities


Last year I wrote about the trend of RetroTrust, how people trust in the things they remember from their past or associate with a simpler time. Now an article from the author of Heartland suggests that expensive cities may be losing their appeal as more people move back to the country.

If this is the sign of a cultural shift in the making, then the resulting “Brain Gain” (as the article calls it) could reshape how rural communities vote, as well as how we measure success and personal happiness.
