This Banana Slicer Could Make You Rich $$$!

One of the most popular products on Amazon is one with well over seven thousand five star reviews from people raving about its culinary and emotional benefits. Some say it saved their marriage. Others speak of how their life is now complete after having owned the product. What's the source of all this idolatry? The no-longer-underappreciated Hutzler 571 banana slicer. This is a product that some might criticize as unnecessary. After all, there are probably other methods one might use to slice a banana.

Indeed, not all the reviews are quite so complimentary. The irate one-star reviews demonstrate a similar level of passion with the opposite emotion. One person rants that the slicer they received cannot be used for avocados because it's yellow. Another complains that it was non-functional because all their bananas curve the opposite direction! If you haven't diagnosed the joke so far, it turns out the banana slicer's listing on Amazon has turned into a web-wide joke competition. Who can write the most ridiculous review for this ridiculous product. And here's the best part – the creators of the Hutzler 571 are taking it all to the bank. The product is a top seller in the kitchen gadgets category on Amazon and has delighted thousands of consumers with it's mock utility. I myself have purchased more than a hundred to use as giveaways … so many that Hutzler now considers me a wholesaler.

So here's the non-obvious lesson. Some times it's ok to be the butt of the joke and just watch it happen. Especially if that joke turns you into a viral success.
