IMAX Bets Big On VR As The Future Of Moviemaking

IMAX has been the filmmaking gold standard for many years, which is exactly why its big bet on virtual reality was worth paying attention to. An in depth article in WIRED took readers behind the scenes of that bet.
Two things stood out for me. The first is that the piece gives you an appreciation for what betting decisively on a vision actually looks like, as opposed to the hedged, half funded version of innovation that most companies settle for. The second is the reminder that the best innovators are the brands who continue to disrupt themselves even when no one is forcing them to.
Nobody was making IMAX do this. That is the whole point.
