Is Apple Just “Milking Its Cash Cows”?

Apple iPhone 7 launch event

For any other company, Apple's latest press event would have been an ordinary incremental announcement of phone updates and small changes. For Apple, a company that once induced frenzy and shifted entire industries with their launch announcements, these predictable announcements were another step towards an ordinary future.

While the brand remains popular, this descent back to Earth may increasingly mean consumers will demand the same things from Apple that they do from everyone else. Interoperability with non-Apple devices, less exorbitant price premiums, greater transparency and ethical manufacturing, and higher quality accessories are just a few examples of what the brand may need to offer moving forward.

Most importantly, the brand's days of “milking its cash cows,” as one Inc. article put it, may soon be over.
