Startup Rewards Business Travelers For Skipping The Hotel Mini Bar
Many corporate travelers have bad habits when it comes to spending, from buying $12 bottles of water in hotels to paying unnecessary change fees. None of it is their money, which is exactly the problem.
The startup TripAction wants to incentivize them to save by offering gift card rewards for keeping travel expenses under control. It is a simple flip of the usual approach, which is to write a stricter policy and then be annoyed when nobody follows it. Give the traveler a reason to care and the expense report takes care of itself.
The market seemed to think it was a great idea. The startup closed over $14 million dollars in funding.
