What A 3D Printer Does When You Give It Artificial Intelligence


Other than professional curiosity, there probably isn’t much reason to give a 3D printer artificial intelligence and allow it to print whatever it wants. But when you do, the results are somewhat magical.

The idea behind this project, and some of the things it produced, are a beautiful example of what happens when you combine tech savvy with bravery and curiosity. Almost everything we ask a machine to make, we specify first. This was the opposite, a machine left to decide for itself what was worth making.

What else could AI come up with without our intervention? I want to know now more than ever.
